Basic literacy project
to prevent child labour
Surat (Gujarat) and Pahassaur (Haryana).
Child workers aged 3 to 16.
SECTOR OF ACTIVITY
Due to the fact that education is not compulsory before 6 years of age in India and to the extreme poverty of brickworks families in the slums, every family member is forced to work in order to survive, regardless of their age. Almost 100% of children in these communities are at risk of never going to school and starting to work from the age of three.
In itwillbe.org we work to prevent child labour in the 15 brick factories of Pahassaur and 5 shantytowns of Surat, through basic literacy projects, accompanied by appropriate social work with families to raise awareness of the importance of education.
